The MA in Teaching Program at the 香蕉影视 (香蕉影视) is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time faculty position - rank open. Candidates should hold a PhD in Education or related areas, and have demonstrated experience in conducting empirical research in education using qualitative and/or quantitative methods. The area of research interests is open. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and /or prior engagement in teacher development.

Full-time faculty are expected to teach at least six courses (three per term), participate in academic advising, and supervise Master鈥檚 theses. Responsibilities and expectations also include participation in programs of the Institute of Education and in university life.听听

The MA in Teaching program at 香蕉影视 is an innovative dual-degree graduate program in teacher education - offering a Masters in Pedagogy from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education, and an MAT degree from Bard College, New York. The program offers a unique blended-learning approach with a strong focus on teaching practice, and has a diverse student body from across Central Asia. The language of instruction is English.听

The program is generously funded by the US Embassy, Bishkek - enabling it to offer tuition scholarships to outstanding public school teachers and teacher leaders from across the region. Student engagement and faculty development is also supported by funding from the University and from the Open Society University Network.

The selected candidate will become a full-member of a small but dynamic international team - and a growing network of exceptional alumni - that is passionate about transforming the quality of teacher education in Central Asia and beyond.

Roles and Responsibilities听

A Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) faculty member works as an instructor, collaborator with the Institute of Education (IOE) and MAT programming, and supporter of MAT students. The tasks involved include

• Teaching and guiding master鈥檚-level students through original educational research;
• Continuing research in one鈥檚 area of interest within education, providing opportunities to MAT graduates;
• Fulfilling contractual duties as a full-time 香蕉影视 faculty. Of note: teach 36 hours annually (6 courses); participate in faculty meetings and events; maintaining office hours;
• Collaborating with MAT faculty and adjunct faculty to implement MAT curriculum;
• Developing assigned new courses that expand the elective options for MAT students within the faculty鈥檚 field of expertise;
• Revising core curriculum courses as necessary when they are part of the assigned teaching load;
• Teaching in summer, fall, and spring semesters, in both online and in person mode;
• Participating in recruiting efforts, including 香蕉影视 open house events, online events, and potential travel opportunities;
• Participating and enhancing MAT-specific events, such as orientation and state defense and examinations;
• Working with the MAT and IOE teams to support departmental projects.

Qualities of Full-Time MAT Faculty:

We seek a faculty member who is

• a PhD in education (or advanced stage in a PhD program)
• an excellent teacher, with experience in teaching research methods;
• an effective communicator;
• enthusiastic about supporting graduate students;
• adept at academic writing and academic writing instruction;
• eager to learn;
• published in peer-reviewed journals or on reputable platforms;
• fluent in English; fluency in Russian and / or Kyrgyz will be an asset

International and Comparative Politics Department

The Department of International and Comparative Politics (ICP) at the 香蕉影视 is inviting applications from qualified international and local candidates for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. Candidates preferably should hold a Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Policy, or advanced stage in a Ph.D. program, and have demonstrated experience in teaching for more than three years.

The candidate should have a specialization in one of the following:

• Political Theory (PT): Intro to Political Theory (required course) and elective courses in political theory (such as Political Ideologies, Contemporary Political Thought, etc.)
• Political Science/Public Policy (PS/PP): Introduction to Political Science (required course) and elective courses (such as Public Policy Analysis, Governance and Development, etc.)
• Comparative Politics (CP): Elective courses in comparative politics (such as Central Asian Politics, Latin American Politics, African Politics, Middle East, South-East Asia, etc.).
• Methods and Methodology in Political Science and International Relations (RM): Quantitative Research Methods, Research Methods in Political Science, Academic Writing on International Affairs, or Senior Thesis.

Full-time faculty are expected to teach 36 credits (ECTS), which is equal to five to six undergraduate-level courses per year (three per term), participate in academic advising of at least ten students, and supervise at least two senior theses per academic year. Responsibilities and expectations also include active participation in departmental activities and university services and conducting research.

The faculty positions are open both to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and international candidates. For International faculty, 香蕉影视 provides visa support, accommodation allowance, and a travel allowance. The contract will be given for one academic year with a high possibility of an extension based on the evaluation of teaching performance and departmental service.

C5+1 Youth Council Public Relations and SMM Manager

Position Summary:

The C5+1 Youth Council (YC) Program Coordinator will work to fulfill the goals of the C5+1 Youth

Council program, developed by the Center for Civic Engagement of the American Univrsity of Central Asia (CCE 香蕉影视) in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.听 The C5+1 YC, established in 2016 and supported by the U.S. Embassy Bishkek, is a regional platform for university undergraduate students to engage in issues of regional significance with fellow students on Peace and security, Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, People-to-People Connections.听 The YC includes students from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.听听

Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Scope of work:

The YC C5+1 Public Relations (PR) and SMM Manager is responsible for generating publicity of C5+1 YC to have a solid reputation and credibility of C5+1 YC in Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.

Public Relations and SMM Manager will promote events of C5+1 YC in Central Asian countries and Afghanistan through social media marketing and organizes media coverage by collaborating with journalists of traditional media in Kyrgyzstan.听听

1. Serves as the main point of contact for viewers of YC social media (SM) pages and traditional media in Kyrgyzstan. Works closely with the YC members and YC Alumni to engage them in giving interviews to journalists of traditional media and promote events of YC members and YC Alumni through SMM.
2. Tracks and monitors SM insight statistical data and contributes to program reports and short reports after the end of each activity of YC.
3. Promotes C5+1 YC activities and announcements through SM targeting.
4. Highlights successful projects, activities and initiatives on SM pages through high quality of videos and photos;
5. Contributes to successful recruiting of target audience to YC activities through targeted open calls for applications on SM;
6. Develops, maintains a robust communication strategy of YC and media plan of SMM in Central Asian Countries and Afghanistan. Collaborates with traditional media in Kyrgyzstan to achieve set goals and objectives of YC;
7. Provides news, photos, interviews, and success stories about YC members and YC Alumni and their projects for YC SM pages and traditional media. Releases newsletters of C5+1 YC.
8. Organizes media coverage of YC members and small grant projects of YC Alumni by releasing press releases, inviting journalists to events of YC members, and YC Alumni. Works with journalists at events by supporting journalists to interview YC members, YC Alumni, target audiences, and key partners. Monitors media coverage of YC events and projects.
9. Maintains close communication and cooperation with YC members and YC Alumni. Contributes to demonstrating the success and impact of YC members and YC Alumni as a result of their implementation of YC events and projects, and the small grant projects.
10. Involves and engages viewers to virtual sessions of YC members and YC Alumni.

11. Contributes to discussions of regional issues within the C5+1 platform through SM and traditional media. Creates a team of YC members on communication and media. Implements communication strategy and SMM media plan along with YC members of this team.

12. Builds capacity of YC members and youth in Central Asia and Afghanistan through offline and online trainings on writing stories, blogging, SMM, photo making, videography, designing, etc. with the involvement of professional trainers.
13. Organizes trainings on providing information about events and projects for SM pages, taking photos, and giving interviews to journalists for YC members during the Leadership Academy by involving professional trainers.
14. Supports YC members and YC alumni to draft their remarks for interviews and prepares YC members to give interviews through special meetings before interviews.
15. Organizes the process of designing and printing promotional items of YC.
16. Demonstrates commitment to diversity and inclusion.
17. Other duties as assigned.

听Qualifications:

• Bachelor鈥檚 degree in communications, public relations and other relevant filed;
• 3-5 years of work experience in public relations, communications and marketing;
• A solid experience of working with journalists and traditional media;
• Experience in creating, managing social media content and SMM;
• Working knowledge and proficiency in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Telegram;
• Knowledge of social media analytics software (HootSuite, Facebook Analytics);
• Design, web and video editing skills (Adobe, Photophop, Canva and other);
• Excellent strategic planning, management, logistic, interpersonal and teambuilding skills;
• Fluent verbal and written communications skills in English, Kyrgyz and Russian languages;
• Excellent of photo and video taking skills;
• Knowledge of culture, mentality and lifestyle of people living in regions of the Kyrgyz Republic, other Central Asian countries and Afghanistan (if possible);
• Demonstrated creativity and partnership building skills;
• Experience in organizing the designing and printing promotional items;
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, particularly in organizing public events;
• Ability to facilitate and expand youth initiatives through SMM in Central Asian countries and Afghanistan and traditional media in Kyrgyzstan;
• Understanding the geopolitics of Central Asia and Afghanistan;
• Ability to multi-task and set priorities while working independently;
• Ability to quickly respond to requests from key partners;
• Integrity and a proactive work ethic and positive attitude.

Terms:听 The YC C5+1 PR and SMM Manager directly reports to CCE 香蕉影视 and closely works with the Public Diplomacy Section at the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.

We seek a faculty member who is

• Hold a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related area. Candidates with a PhD or nearing completion of a PhD will be given preference.
• Excellent knowledge and teaching skills in OOP, Algorithms, and Data Structures.
• Strong background in C/C++, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and practical skills.
• Ability to adapt to and adopt new technological stacks, programming languages, and related technologies as agreed upon by the faculty or outlined by educational standards.
• Fluent in English; fluency in Russian and / or Kyrgyz will be an asset.
